After the 10 hours at the zoo we caught a bus to the station, a train to another station and then another bus to a different station. Here we waited ages to go through customs and security at 11:00 pm and finally boarded the overnight train to Malaysia. We had the smaller top bunks because they are cheaper and we are poor. We spent about half an hour at the first stop for no apparent reason.

I couldn't get to sleep and when I finally did I was awoken very shortly after by someone wanting to see my ticket. DAMN YOU! I didn't get much more sleep after that and I really needed to go to the toilet but it was so difficult to get down off the bunk that I put it off until 5:00 am. When I finally went to the toilet I couldn't open the door because I am a weakling and someone laughed at me. I finally got through there and the sitting toilet was occupied, by this point I'd only been on the squat toilet at the zoo and I did not enjoy it then and nor did I enjoy it now. The floor was wet and it turned out I was doing it wrong when I looked at the sign showing you how. Oops. Urinated on my foot a little. Oops. When I went to wash my hands the tap sprayed water all over me. Not impressed. I went back to bed and didn't get any sleep.

We arrived in KL at 7:00 am. We couldn't check into our hostel until 1:00 pm so we were very grumpy and very stinky. We walked around for a bit and had lemon iced tea and played cards. I was feeling very ill, like I had "train legs" - the room was moving from side to side. We had breakfast (some noodle thing) at a small corner cafe and then played drinking games up the road with some Tiger beer. I love that their bottles of beer are 660 ml. We finally checked into our hostel (PODs) where we had a green room with two mattresses on a board on the floor. There was no curtain but a big window out onto the street. It was a pretty cool place. We had a laid back night down at reception with bean bags and cushions, books and games. I discovered Bundy is really bad at playing Mastermind. Then we played card games that went nowhere (who invented 'War'?). We went out for Chinese and had some delicious fried rice and noodles before heading back to bed.

After we'd woken up, we went down to reception for breakfast of toast and then took the monorail to the KL tower. It was super hot outside. We went up to the observation deck which was pretty awesome at 280 metres up (taller than the Petronas deck). We went to the animal zone at the bottom of the tower which was horrible - the animals were all kept in tiny concrete cages. Bundy got a photo with a bunch of different birds on him before he realised it cost money. We walked around the Culture Garden and met a man with an iguana, so we asked if we could hold the little guy. Now I want a pet iguana. We went out for lunch at a nearby bakery in the city and then walked up to the Petronas Towers which were also pretty awesome. We didn't go to the observation deck however because it was dearer and not as high up as the KL tower. We instead looked around Suria KL shopping centre in the towers for awhile. Everything was so expensive! Afterwards we went to a nearby park and played cards and dipped our feet in the pool to cool down.

We walked down 'City Walk' for dinner. I had fried rice and at 'Pho Expert'. Then we walked down to beach themed bar which claimed to be Asia's best bar. It was pretty good with some great music and a shark aquarium above the bar. We ordered a pitcher of Long Beach Tea before realising it cost 75RM ($25) so after that we had no money and had to leave. We took the monorail back and went to bed.
